- Claire: If you're, uh, new to DVD,
you might want to rent the director's cut of "Das Boot."
It's amazing - I mean, if you don't mind subtitles.
- Frasier: Mind them? I prefer them!
What follows is a list of all the films I've seen, catogorized by their respective countries of origin - counting only foreign films (since there'd be way too many American films to list). I have tried to be as open as I could with the origin nations of films - most are simple (La Strada is Italian / Jules et Jim is French...and so on) - but some are more difficult - ex: Belgian Filmmaker Chantal Akerman's early films were made in Belgium, but her later films were made in France / Kiewslowski made films in Poland, while his last three films were made in France / and some films, like Kiewslowski's Double Life of Veronique, are hybrids of more than one nation / a recent example is The Motorcycle Diaries, a film made in Argentina, by a Brazilian Director, starring a Mexican Actor and funded by Germany, The US and Great Britian (this is listed under Argentina, by the way) - so I've tried to go with the prominant country of origin with these films (or with the filmmakers in certain cases) - As for The Soviet Union/Russia - Any film made during the Soviet days will be listed under USSR, as well as any post-Soviet Russian films, but any of the post-Soviet republics will be listed under their own banners (re: Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia etc.) - The same goes for Yugoslavia/Serbia and all their breakaway nations - remember, this is not an exact science - anyway, here they are...
