THE WORST OF 2007

Over on my Best of 2007 page I rant and rave about how great a year it was in American film, but one must realize that even though there was more than the usual share of great American films made in the last twelve months, there still exists that aim-for-the-floor lowest common denominator mentality when it comes to 99% of Hollywood moviemaking. Thankfully I have managed to avoid the vast majority of these inevitably bad films, which is why you will not read the names Norbit, Balls of Fury, Daddy Day Camp, Epic Movie, Licence to Wed, Are We Done Yet?, Underdog, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Wild Hogs, Evan Almighty, P.S. I Love You, Fred Claus, August Rush or anything with Tyler Perry preceeding it, on the below list. I did get to see quite a few major duds though so the whole thing isn't for naught. In fact only seven are from Hollywood. Hell, one of 'em is even French. There is no commentary though, like on my Best of 2007 page, for we do not want to draw too much attention to these movies. A simple list of ten will suffice. Before I hand out my list of unnotables though, I would like to dedicate this list to someone I met recently who said he only goes to see the top rated movies out there. If it is tops at the box office then it's the movie for him. Who wants to think when they go to the movies!? I am quite sure this man would be much more at home here than anywhere else on my site (indeed half the films on this list topped the box office throughout 2007).
