If there are six nominees: SYRIANA or THE CONSTANT GARDENER (unfortunately, I think MATCH POINT will be snubbed in this category, not sure why) |
post nomination comments:
Went 2 for 5 here (as opposed to 4 for 5 last year), but overall I am pleasantly surprised at my misses. It's great to see A History of Violence make the grade. Although it probably won't make the big show come Oscar Nomination Morning, its nod here keeps it alive - for now. Brokeback - the best American film in nearly three years (Van Sant's Elephant if you want to know) - is of course a sure thing come Oscar time, and this just pounds it in a little more. Good Night, and Good Luck keeps marching on and both Match Point and The Constant Gardener can sigh a collective pfffeww of relief, for they are still in the Oscar race. The big news here though is the omission of Spielberg's Munich (although he did grab a director nod). Does this mean the beginning of the end for that film's chance at gold?? You have to go back to 1999 to find the last time all five Oscar nominees were NOT accounted for in the Globe noms.

If there are six (and there probably will be) nominees: MRS. HENDERSON PRESENTS Although I would love to see THE SQUID & THE WHALE get nominated but we can't leave out WALLACE & GROMIT, can we? |
post nomination comments:
Went 3 for 5 (a little better than Drama), but I had a perfect 100% last year. I had Mrs. Henderson, but pulled it at the last minute to place Rent in. I figured the HFPA had bad taste. I am glad to see Squid & The Whale get in though - I loved this film. Walk the Line though is the only probable Oscar nominee listed here - the rest will come from Best Drama (as per usual).

GEORGE CLOONEY, GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK. |
ROB MARSHALL, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA |
If there are six nominees: RON HOWARD, CINDERELLA MAN or JAMES MANGOLD, WALK THE LINE It would be great to see DAVID CRONENBERG in here |
post nomination comments:
I went 4 for 5 (same as last year). Six total nominees chosen here and no real surprises (not even Fernando really). This does really help Peter Jackson though, but may end up killing Cronenberg's chances. The Oscar race, I think, is going to be between these six men, with one left home come January 30th.

If there are six nominees: RHADA MITCHELL, MELINDA AND MELINDA but if FELICITY HUFFMAN comes to comedy, that may keep Jen Aniston out of it. LAURA LINNEY could get a nod here also (IF THINGS ARE SHAKEN UP A BIT) unless the HFPA considers ROSARIO DAWSON in RENT as lead instead of supporting, then she could very well be in the top 5 (or at least top 6) |

If there are six nominees: RALPH FIENNES, CONSTANT GARDENER There has been a big push to get Hustle & Flow moved to the comedy/musical category, but since that is not going to happen, TERRENCE HOWARD will have to hope for the best here (and who knows, it could happen) |
