Simple and melodic, with the feel of tragedy. Lyrical and intense, with the sway of intrigue. Heavy and haunting, with the scent of doom. Whimsical and lilting, with the air of dignity. Strong and epic, with the sound of thunder. Eerie and seductive, with the feel of sadness.

Runners-up: Mark Isham's score for Crash underscores the intensity (even if it is in a rather shallow manner) wonderfully * The score by Stephan Zacharias for Downfall gives the weight of an already heady subject, just that much more.

LAST YEAR'S NOMINEES:
BAD EDUCATION * BIRTH * DOGVILLE * HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS * THE INCREDIBLES * SIDEWAYS

BEST MIXED SCORE / SOUNDTRACK
Walk the Line 2046 The New World Breakfast on Pluto Good Night, and Good Luck. Rent
Johnny Cash!! Must I say any more? WKW always uses great music to enhance the moods of his film. The use of Wagner and other classsical music resonates deeply within the film. Fun and frivolous, but we gotta have at least one of those. Clooney's decision to use old jazz standards was brilliant. The only thing I liked about this movie was the music.
